13 Best Places to Eat In Canggu, Bali

In the span of three months my family and I spent about a month in Canggu. During that month we ate out once a day (usually an early dinner) and tried as many places around where we were staying as possible. We stayed in three different Airbnbs in three different areas so we really we able to try a variety of restaurants. Here are our top picks in Canggu. If you’re looking for our top restaurant picks in Ubud you can find them here.

WARUNG DANDELION

This adorable restaurant feels like something out of a fairy tale. It is designed so beautifully. It’s only open for dinner (it opens at 5pm), and the lighting is on point. Little string lights and lanterns all around. It has a rustic old library feel with lots of wood elements everywhere. The staff is all so welcoming. They asked us all our names and remembered them every time they brought us a dish. The food is traditional Indonesian and it’s delicious. To top it all off they had a little shed with bunnies in it. Needless to say Zayd loved them!

This restaurant that makes you feel like you’re sitting on the beach somewhere in Hawaii. Lots of chandeliers made out of shells hanging all around and a great big beautiful tree smack in the middle of the place. The fish is so fresh you feel like it just jumped out of the water. If you’re planning on having dinner there I highly recommend you call and make a reservation ahead of time as it can get pretty busy. Definitely don’t miss out on eating here while in Canggu.

We stumbled upon this chic little place while taking Zayd for a walk around the neighborhood and I’m so glad we did! The ambiance is amazing! It has indoor and a large outdoor dining room as well. Super cutely decorated with all sorts of rattan objects throughout the area. The food options were plenty and varied from Asian to Italian to Indonesian. Definitely recommend checking this place out. It would be nice to visit for sunset.

CLEAR CAFE & SPA

When you first see this place the door immediately grabs your attention. It’s a round door that feels like you’re visiting a hobbit home. After leaving your shoes in a cubby at the front door you walk inside. The decor is really cool with a fish pond along the entire side of the room and a spiral staircase right in the middle. They’ve got some cozy floor seating with cushions and some high tables. A cool glass bridge Zayd enjoys walking back and forth on and a firefighters pole on the second floor as a quick way to jump the bill! The food is absolutely delicious with tons of options it’s sometimes hard to decide!

** Also, we haven’t had the chance to try it but there is a spa inside this restaurant. I imagine it would be perfect to get a massage and then have a bit to eat afterwards. The spa menu looks awesome too!

WARUNG FALAFEL

I have to confess that I’ve been really put off falafel for a few years now so I was not excited to try this place at all when Waseem suggested it but man was I surprised. It’s a quick bite to eat joint that’s located in the Ubud Market area. You choose your bread and then you pick your fillings. This is the most delicious falafel sandwich I think I’ve ever had! And I’m Arab! It’s one of those places I know I’m definitely going to miss when we leave Bali.

WHO’S WHO

Delicious little Belgian Cafe. It’s located right in the busy center of town but down a little alleyway that makes it quiet enough to escape the craziness and maybe even get some work done. Tuna tartar was amazing and by far the BEST Iced coffee I think I’ve ever had in my entire life. It’s a home-made recipe with cinnamon and cacao. It’s worth checking this place out just for the coffee! I would even swing by there and get it to go.

KAGEMUSHA

The best Japanese food in Bali! This place is a must try! It’s hidden away down a little walkway that you would never know existed unless someone told you about it. So there are no tourists there which we really liked since it’s been super busy around town these days because of high season. They don’t have sushi as you would expect a Japanese place to have but they do have bento boxes, rice bowls, and tempura options. The food is so delicious we had to go back a couple days in a row. It’s also super affordable! The food is really fresh and they use lots of local ingredients in their dishes. Craving their food as I write this post. Can’t wait to go back!

We had some Indian food cause we haven’t really been able to find good Indian since we got here and it was very good. We also had a salad that I think was possibly the best salad I’ve ever had, really filling too. It’s in a quiet area amidst the trees and situated a bit higher than the street so you kind of get that jungle feel. It’s also nice not to see the cars and bikes go by.
